Polfit's "Spider Web" Apparatus allows the biomechanics of the body to be corrected, while the patient is suspended in the desired position, allowing them to train with various equipments. Polfit offers authentic Spider Therapy allowing for the most versatile positioning and maximum support. This apparatus requires specialized trainers that fully understand both the body and the application of the equipment.
In Spider Therapy, patients are properly aligned and moved through customized exercises and movements. Trainers use belts, bungee cords and straps providing resistance to each targeted muscle. This apparatus allows for patients to experience movement without having to bear full weight. As improvements occur, adjustments are made to allow more weight-bearing and less aid in balance. This gradually increases the individualís ability to perform the function on their own. In addition to standing in the Spider, patients can be suspended over a ball or bolster for proprioception or other equipment such as a stair-stepper or treadmill.
Whether the movement is passive or active, patients benefit greatly from working in the Spider. Exercise using this apparatus has also proven to benefit in various degrees of Gait Training. Patients that need to improve their gait following surgeries such as hip/ knee replacement, tendon lengthening, etc. benefit greatly from the weightless movement the Spider provides.
